The locomotive was built at Nydquist & Holm (NOHAB) in 1965 and is equipped with an EMD567C engine with number ENG-64-J1-1103 which has been upgraded to a 645, with 1950 HP It is also equipped with the Danish safety system ATC, which has just been serviced, but lacks the actual final approval, as it has been out of service for too long.

NOHAB EMDs Having succesfully operated diesel-electric traction since 1935 with it's Lyntog or "Lightning" DMU sets; the Danish State Railways (DSB) in 1954 sought to offset main line steam by introducing diesel electric traction for heavy haulage. At this early stage in the developement of diesel electric locomotives, the DSB sensibly ordered Nohab diesel loc ('bulbous nose') in the CFL version of the sixties.
